Receiving Mail

Mail is received by FTGate in one of two ways; SMTP or SmartPop .

SMTP

SMTP is used to send mail from your mail client to the mail server and then from the mail server to the ISP or the rest of the internet. It is a protocol designed for sending messages between two servers and as such, if you can have your mail delivered to your server using SMTP, this will offer the best performance and reliability.

The SMTP service can also be used to filter mail to prevent UBE mail entering your server.
